Riese Gaber is a beloved UND Hockey alumnus who became a household name in Grand Forks thanks to his speed, skill, and fearless style of play. Hailing from Gilbert Plains, Manitoba, Gaber joined the Fighting Hawks in 2020 and quickly became a spark plug for the program, earning a reputation as one of college hockey’s most dangerous and determined wingers.

Despite being undersized, Gaber played with a big-time presence — flying into corners, finishing checks, and scoring clutch goals when UND needed them most. Over his four-year career, he racked up 129 points (56G, 73A) in 134 games, earning All-NCHC honors, serving as an assistant captain, and leading the Hawks in goals for multiple seasons.
