Zach Sandy is a Fargo, North Dakota, native and a goaltender for the University of North Dakota Fighting Hawks, joining the program in 2025 via the transfer portal. Sandy began his collegiate career by playing three seasons for the University of Minnesota-Duluth.
Before college, Sandy played junior hockey for the Minot Minotauros of the NAHL, where he committed to UMD in 2022. During his high school career with Fargo South/Shanley, Sandy distinguished himself by helping lead his team to the state championship game and earning Senior Athlete of the Year honors.
Now at UND, Sandy is expected to provide depth to the goaltending position and brings local pride to the team. His journey reflects the strength of homegrown hockey talent in North Dakota, demonstrating his resilience and determination to play for his home state team.
